Thirteen types of bakery products are impacted, says a popular supermarket chain, so make sure your loaves at home are in the clear.

A Major Grocer Just Announced a Bread Recall in One State

As Americans, we sure do love our sandwiches—in fact, sandwiches make up around 30% of our diets, according to a 2024 poll conducted by Talker Research. Further proving this point, a whopping 46% of surveyed participants claimed they could spend the rest of their lives eating only sandwiches.
Whether you stack ingredients on hearty whole wheat or a crusty French bread, you’ll want to confirm your preferred loaf isn’t impacted by a new recall notice released by a favorite regional supermarket chain.
Southeastern grocer Publix Super Markets, Inc. is recalling 13 types of bread products that were produced at a store location in Florida on July 6 and July 7. Products include whole wheat, Italian, rye, and French bread, among others.
According to the Publix announcement, the recall is due to “the potential of foreign material in the product.” It does not elaborate on what that foreign material could be or how the possible issue was discovered. A few weeks ago, a Publix ground beef recall in another state was put into effect for a similar reason.
The impacted store is the Market at Newberry Farms Shopping Center, according to the Publix release. Also known as Store No. 2012, the store is located in Newberry, Florida. The notice says that no other Publix store locations are impacted by the recall.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from the store shelves,” says Publix director of communications Maria Brous.
Below is a list of all the recalled Bakery Bread products, as shared by Publix:
- Rye Seeded Bread
- Marble Rye Bread
- Whole Wheat 5 Grain
- Rye Bread
- Chicago Italian Bread
- French Bread 12oz
- Baguette
- Italian 5 Grain Bread
- Sourdough French Bread
- Cuban Bread
- Italian 5 Grain Baguette
- Italian Bread
- Hoagie Rolls 4ct
The notice does not list the total number of products that have been recalled, but each product features a sell-by date of July 7 or July 8—meaning it’s reasonable to assume consumers could have the bread products currently in their homes.
Any bread products sold on or after July 8 are reportedly not affected.
Publix urges consumers to either dispose of any recalled product or return it for a refund. Consumers can also contact Publix Customer Care with questions at (800) 242-1227.
